Wilderness Medical Society meeting Snowmass at Aspen
Jul 24, 2007 13: 00 EST
Greetings from the annual scientific meeting of the Wilderness Medical Society in Snowmass at Aspen, Colorado. We've had a fabulous meeting so far - hearing from icons in the wilderness education field -- Peter Hackett, Paul Auerbach, Howard Donner among many others. President Eric Johnson (former EBC clinic volunteer and board member) kicked off the conference that has included cutting edge lectures from world renowned experts as well as great hands on workshops. It's not all work, though, great classes on fly fishing, wildlife photograpy and more have kept us entertained.
Tonight we induct the first class of candidates who have achieved the designation of Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and then are treated to a talk by banquet speaker Mark Plotkin PhD, President, Amazon Conservation Team, Research Associate of Smithsonian
Institution’s Museum of Natural History,
author of Tales of a Shaman’s Apprentice
and Medicine Quest and a “Hero for
the Planet” by Time magazine.
